At The Autism Foundation International (T.A.F.I), we believe that autism advocacy is not about creating a world without autistic individuals, but about building a society where people with autism enjoy the same rights, opportunities, and quality of life as every other human being. Our mission is to advance autism awareness in Kenya and beyond, creating inclusive communities where every autistic child is supported, protected, and respected.
As a leading organization in autism support in Kenya, T.A.F.I’s primary mandate is to advocate for the rights of people with autism and their families. We are deeply committed to building understanding and fighting stigma through community-based initiatives, partnerships with the county government, and collaborations with other autism and disability-focused organizations.
We know that a lack of awareness and persistent misconceptions about autism can lead to marginalization and harmful stereotypes. Therefore, we actively engage in autism awareness campaigns, community events, and educational programs to help people better understand what autism is, what it is not, and how to interact with and support individuals on the autism spectrum.
T.A.F.I is proud to work closely with local leaders, teachers, medical professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure that the voices of autistic children and their families are heard and respected. We encourage policy changes that promote equal access to education, healthcare, therapy, and social inclusion for children with autism.
One of our core programs focuses on capacity building for parents and caregivers. Through specialized counseling and economic empowerment initiatives, T.A.F.I equips caregivers with the skills and resources they need to raise their autistic children with dignity and confidence. These programs help caregivers develop coping mechanisms to address stigma and discrimination, manage disclosure challenges, and build a positive attitude towards autism. By strengthening caregivers, we strengthen entire families and communities.
In addition, T.A.F.I partners with community structures and networks that promote child protection, safeguarding children with autism from maltreatment, neglect, and negligence. Protecting these children is essential to promoting their well-being and giving them the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
Our advocacy efforts do not stop at awareness and training. We also encourage community participation and volunteerism. Volunteers play a vital role in spreading autism awareness in Kenya, supporting our events, and serving as champions of change. Through these efforts, we build a culture of acceptance, empathy, and empowerment for people with autism.
Your involvement makes this work possible. Whether through autism donations, volunteering, or sharing our mission, you help us drive meaningful change. By supporting T.A.F.I, you invest in a future where autistic children in Kenya can learn, grow, and lead fulfilling lives without fear of discrimination or exclusion.
Together, we can transform attitudes, break down barriers, and build a society that embraces diversity and values every child’s unique abilities. Autism in Kenya deserves attention, resources, and dedicated allies — and that is exactly what T.A.F.I stands for.
