• The Autism Foundation International (T.A.F.I) : Empowering Autistic Children in Kenya

Every day at TAFI (The Autism Foundation International) is a battle won not just against the challenges of autism, but often against the odds of infrastructure that fails our most vulnerable.

Janet is a bright 9-year-old girl on the spectrum. When she first joined TAFI, she was non-verbal, anxious, and often withdrawn. Through months of consistent occupational therapy, aided by educational videos, assistive devices, and sensory room exercises, she began to make strides. She smiled. She engaged. She whispered her first words.

But just as her journey toward progress began to shine, the power went out and kept going out.

Kenya’s unpredictable electricity outages meant therapy tools powered by electricity were unusable for days. Janet would stare at a black screen during her digital learning sessions. Sensory rooms became silent. Fans stopped turning in the heat. Her anxiety returned. And progress slowed to a crawl.

This isn’t just Janet’s story. It’s the reality for dozens of children whose developmental milestones are deeply dependent on consistency and structured environments  environments which collapse every time the lights go out.

That’s why we are launching the “Light It Up” fundraising campaign to install a reliable solar backup system at TAFI, ensuring uninterrupted therapy and learning for our children.

Your Impact

With your support, we aim to raise Ksh 150,000 to install a solar power solution that will:

  • Keep classrooms, therapy rooms, and sensory spaces powered 24/7

  • Run vital assistive devices and learning tools

  • Provide stable lighting, fans, and digital equipment

  • Reduce stress and regression in autistic learners

  • Empower teachers to deliver uninterrupted care
